Graham Tobe is the president and Chief Executive Officer of Ontario Wealth Management Corporation (“Owemanco”). Graham has practiced commercial and real estate law in Toronto with his 40-year career. During this time and for 6 years, Graham served as legal counsel to the Board of Directors of the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario.
In 2001 Graham founded Owemanco as a mortgage brokerage, syndicator and subsequently as a mortgage administrator. In 2010, he initiated the Owemanco Mortgage Trust (the “Trust”) an income trust currently with approximately 300 investors. Graham is responsible for investment decisions, growth strategies and management oversight of both Owemanco and the Trust.
From 2008 until 2022 the headquarters of Owemanco and the Trust had been located at the George Jackson House, a circa 1890’s heritage building acquired by Graham in 2007, preserved and rehabilitated in furtherance of his interests as a historian; it is the third oldest building in Downsview, Ontario.
Graham studied Economics at the University of Western Ontario. He subsequently graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1982 and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1984. He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
Graham founded and endowed the Owemanco Charitable Foundation (the “Foundation”) in 2016. Owemanco contributes 5% of its annual management fees earned for managing the Trust to the Foundation and pays the Foundation’s expenses. Foundation capital is exclusively invested in the Trust and each year the Foundation donates all of its income earned from the Trust to a different single charity of modest size, with minimal overhead and committed to aiding the indigent and those with mental health challenges.

Adam Tobe

Chief Investment Officer | Partner | Principal Broker.

Adam Tobe is the Chief Investment Officer and Partner at Owemanco and the head of underwriting and deal structuring for all new loan transactions across both Canada and the U.S.

Prior to Joining Owemanco, Adam was a financial analyst at Tricon Capital, a real estate company responsible for financing local and regional land developments and homebuilders throughout Canada and the U.S. At Tricon, Adam extensively underwrote new investment opportunities through building detailed financial models in addition to overseeing existing projects. Prior to Tricon, Adam worked as a financial analyst in Miami at LNR Partners, which at the time was the Country’s largest B-piece buyer of commercial-backed securities (CMBS). In this capacity, Adam was part of the company’s acquisition and surveillance team, which included analyzing new loans secured by various asset types for inclusion into mortgage pools and oversight of existing loans.

Adam has completed his bachelor’s in Finance from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the Western University in London, Ontario.

Sohail Zayona

Sohail Zayona is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Partner at Owemanco. He serves as the lead originator of US and Canadian investments and assists the underwriting team with credit analysis. Sohail is responsible for maintaining business relationships within the brokerage and lending communities where Owemanco conducts business. In addition, Sohail oversees the firm’s mortgage portfolio, accounting, financial reporting, banking, cash management and monitoring the firm’s overall day-to-day activity.

Sohail graduated from the Schulich School of Business at York University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, after which he joined Owemanco.

Mario Dimitriev, CPA, CA is the Controller at Owemanco and has a career spanning of over 20 years with experience in private mortgage financing, infrastructure, energy, and public accounting. He is a solid and trusted team player dedicated to improving financial reporting, reducing costs, mitigating relevant risks, developing staff competency and maintaining an effective system of internal controls at Owemanco. Prior to joining the team, Mario was the Vice President of Finance and Controller at Enwave Energy Corporation; and prior to this, he operated as the Assurance Manager at Ernst & Young, Toronto.

Mario has completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of National and World Economy in Bulgaria.

Osama joined Owemanco in 2018 as an underwriting analyst and was responsible for preparing detailed loan summaries, analyzing new loan inquiries and assisting with the overall underwriting process. Osama was promoted to Senior Analyst with additional responsibilities including maintaining oversight over all transactions and liaising with the Trust’s Investment Committee. In 2022, Osama became involved in the Investor Relations Department with key oversight over all operations relating to the Owemanco Mortgage Trust.

Osama holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Osama is also licensed as a Mortgage Agent Level 2 and is pursuing his Mortgage Broker license and designations from the CFA Institute.

Lucy joined Owemanco in 2023 as an Associate in the Investor Relations Department. Lucy is responsible for managing relationships with current and prospective investors and analyzing market trends pertaining to the Trust.

Lucy holds a Master of Arts in International Security from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, History, and Economics from McGill University.”

Joe began working at Owemanco as an analyst and now focuses his efforts on loan originations in the United States. Prior to Owemanco, Joe held asset management and acquisitions positions. Joe holds a B.S.B.A in accounting from Xavier University. He is currently licensed as a Mortgage Agent in Ontario.

Aneela obtained her mortgage license in 2009 and joined Owemanco the following year as an underwriting assistant to Graham Tobe. Aneela is responsible for originating mortgage loans and has extensive experience overseeing transactions from beginning to end. Prior to joining Owemanco, Aneela managed multiple retail stores in London, England.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors from London, England.

Laura has been at Owemanco for over a decade and is involved in all areas relating to accounting, financial reporting and analysis. Her past roles include working at a private financial services company. Laura brings to Owemanco a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to integrity. She obtained her CPA and CGA designations in 2012.

Cecilia is an experienced finance leader specializing in financial reporting, process management and financial decision support. Cecilia brings a wealth of experience having worked in private mortgage financing, energy, software, machinery and equipment industries. At Owemanco, Cecilia is responsible for financial reporting, initiating mortgage renewals and maintaining oversight over the mortgage portfolio. Prior to joining Owemanco, Cecilia was the Manager of Finance Shared Service at Enwave Energy Corporation.

Cecilia holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from the University of Alberta. She is licensed as a CPA and CMA.

Shiela Patel has been with Owemanco for over 5 years overseeing all accounting processes at the firm.  Prior to joining Owemanco, Shiela worked in bookkeeping and office administration with the Living Proof Institute and Prevendel Business Solutions Inc. She also worked as an Internal Auditor at the University of Toronto and as an Auditor at the Auditor General of Ontario.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Toronto and has been licensed as a CGA since 2006.

Mortgage Broker and Originator

Jonah Bonn is the founder of First Bay Properties Inc., a property management firm that specializes in commercial and industrial real estate investments in Eastern Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

Jonah is a Registered Professional Planner and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. He is also a licensed mortgage broker with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association (Ontario), formerly known as the Independent Mortgage Brokers Association of Ontario (“IMBA”). Jonah served on the Board of Directors of the IMBA from 2009 to 2014 and was appointed as Treasurer.

Jonah was a mortgage originator and underwriter from 2004 to 2009 for the Eastern Ontario region of Owemanco and was thereafter employed as the Chief Operating Officer and Principal Broker of Owemanco until 2015. Jonah is currently the Chairman of the Investment Committee of Owemanco Mortgage Trust.

Prior to joining Owemanco, Jonah worked for several years at a land development company based in Ottawa where he was responsible for managing the finances and planning functions for a portfolio of urban development parcels. Before that, he was employed as an auditor at KPMG Chartered Accountants LLP in Toronto.

Given Jonah’s diverse background and unique skill set, he is often engaged to assist lenders and restructuring professionals in complex real estate workouts.

Jonah attended the University of Ottawa from 1992 to 1997 where he earned a B.Sc. and B.A.. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Management and Professional Accounting from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto in 1999. Jonah now resides in Ottawa with his wife and two children.

In her role as Administrative Assistant, Meghan provides the operational and administrative support that underpins Owemanco. With 5 years’ experience working in commercial real estate, Meghan is adept in providing exceptional administrative service across the company.

Originally from Vancouver, Meghan is an avid hiker, swimmer, and photographer. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, painting, and spending time with her cat, Nylah.

Afarin holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management from Royals Roads University. Prior to joining Owemanco, Afarin worked in the banking and financial industries for over 8 years and has held positions in mortgage services, commercial funding, residential underwriting, and portfolio management.
